GLAMPING @ THE RITZ

There are some hotels that I just click with and no matter where in the world I find them Ritz-Carlton tends to be near the top of that list. Part of Marriott’s “Luxury” division, the Ritz-Carlton group amplifies the opulence of travel with breathtaking properties, fine dining, unique guest experiences and best of all, tried and tested Ritz service and luxury.

The 16-year-old Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore is no exception to this rule and in my opinion, seems to have it all — proximity to Marina Bay, imposing architectural presence thanks to the Pritzker Prize-winning architect Kevin Roche and an impressive 4,200-piece modern art collection by the likes of Andy Warhol. The soaring mother of pearl-topped dome ceiling, and the lavish grand lobby are exercises in extravagance.

Best of all, Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore is unequivocally the most family oriented luxury hotel you can find in Singapore.

So when I decided last week to treat our little ones to a girls only 3 night stay in Singapore on our way home from Europe, I could not go past this property. After all, when I heard through the grape vine the Ritz had introduced the “Ritz Kidz Night Safari Adventures” program, they had me at hello!

It’s a very cool program which seeks to cultivate the spirit of the great outdoors in young children, and cater to their inquisitiveness, creativity and thirst for new adventures. From the moment you check-in the children are immersed into a world of excitement. With adventure passports, treasure hunts, sweet treats, gifts and a sleeping tent pitched inside your suite, this really is the ultimate in glamping – Ritz style.

Treat time!

To elevate the experience, the rooms and suites are stunning with floor-to-ceiling windows that offer postcard perfect views of Kallang or the Marina Bay skyline. The real trump cards though are the bathrooms. With the hotels huge signature octagonal windows, the bath is perfectly perched to soak up the suds and sweeping views below. Throw in some rose petals and they really are every girls dream, big and small!

Roses for my little roses..Soaking up the suds and the view!

To add to the excitement for minis, on level 4 of the hotel there are five guest rooms that have been transformed into the Ritz Kids Play Area. Each room is themed and offers a unique fun experience for children aged 4 to 12 years.

Or if you’d prefer to venture out of the hotel the attractions at Marina Bay are certainly in no short supply. My girls are in love the Art and Science Museum!

Too much fun @ The Art and Science Museum

From the day spa, (the first La Mer hotel partner spa in Asia Pacific), to the recently renovated swimming pool, gymnasium and fitness centre, there is no lack of facilities and all are world class.

The hotel has three restaurants and a Lobby Lounge and I love that each restaurant caters for little peoples needs. Dining highlights include the one Michelin star Summer Pavilion, which offers sophisticated Cantonese or my favourite, the champagne Sunday brunch in Colony. It’s also here the children can use their daily ice cream pass to cure any cravings!

So if it’s opulence you seek that’s incredibly child friendly, look no further. Timeless yet contemporary, classic yet cutting-edge, the hotel’s unique blend of luxury and comfort make this a haven of fun in Marina Bay, the ultimate Singapore address.
