Ankle boot crush

What girl doesn’t love shoes? I mean lets be honest. With my hand on my heart I promise that I can not recall ever meeting a female on this planet who does not go wild for a gorgeous pair of shoes.

I’m also convinced there is a mystical power that radiates when purchasing your perfect pair. In fact it’s true that buying shoes and wearing them increases dopamine levels in the brain and induces a state of euphoria.

And have you ever noticed that women have a tendency to rationalize their oversized shoe collections? Clearly speaking for myself at least, it’s because the right shoe is a necessity.

Sure, a new dress or a pair of jeans is nice, but we all need shoes on our feet and for so many different occasions.

Heels are a staple for work, special occasions, or not so special occasions and we definitely cant live without sandals, practical flats and sneakers. There you go. That has to be ten pairs of shoes right there, before you even reach the critical choices of colour, style and heel height. Soon it becomes more than reasonable to have over twenty pairs in your wardrobe…if not a few more! In fact, the average woman (is there such a thing ?) admits to owning at least 10 pairs of shoes, and one in every 12 women claims to have over 100 pairs.

Now being a self-confessed shoe addict, I not only have a healthy collection of shoes, but also a hierarchy and sitting at the very top of the ladder for me are ankle boots.

My love for ankle boots is so deep that I’d be safe to say, it’s become a consuming crush. They are by far my favourite foot accessory and for the good part of all four seasons.

Ankle boots are a key look with endless outfit combinations and are easily one of a few genuine wardrobe staples. Coming in all shapes, sizes, heights, silhouettes and colours, they are an absolute essential and more than ever before are the ultimate fashion buy.

Whether you are on or off duty, team them with to-die-for denim, leather skinnies, skirts, shorts, or toughen up a feminine frock with ease. Everyone needs a pair of heeled, flat or even wedge ankle boots.

For me it is all about pushing the style boundaries so I usually always opt for standout zip or buckle detailing and shoe designer Tabitha Simmons takes the crown in this arena. Her boots are luxe with an ultra chic edge and wear-forever appeal. Also on my luxe list are Chanel for their heavenly intricate detailing which we all love and Chloe, for their claim to fame Susanna Boot.

Whilst we all love the trusty day-to-day staple boot, this season is will see styles boldly taken up a notch. The runways and in turn the high street have heralded a seductive selection of second skin styles in suede or glossy leather, bound tightly to the ankle.

Other trend additions to note?

I’m loving the statement non-black boots, coming in everything from rich reds to merlots, mustards, crisp white leather and emerald greens. Heals are becoming an art form and popping up everywhere in tortoiseshell, marbles, perspex cut outs and killer metallics. And what’s not to like about a tactile suede boot in nudes and rich earthy tones with laces or fringing – or both.

It’s official, almost anything goes ankle-boot wise and no trend should remain unexplored as you’ll never know what you might miss.

Check out my big boot crush and whether you’re on a budget or up for a boot binge, master your shoe game and re-boot now!
